Court House

Another little background for a game I'm working on.

Christmas Traditions

I did a piece this week for Swerve Magazine about family holiday traditions which got me thinking about my own family traditions. Most of them include the build up to Christmas... playing Frank Sinatra, The Carpenters, and Neil Diamonds Christmas albums, watching old Christmas specials on tapes from the 80s (did anybody else love the Muppet's Christmas special from back then with the Sesame Street cross over)! Every Christmas we always have a big celebration on Christmas Eve with lots of food drinks and games with a lot of animated conversations. We would always make my Grandmother's secret recipe of cookies ans go looking at Christmas lights, both of which I continue to do on my own. All those things are reasons why this is my favourite time of year. Any crazy christmas traditions for you?

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year! Stay safe and warm!

Nighttime Village

Working on environment concepts for a gnome village. I've been working on trying to get more mood and a sense of atmosphere in my paintings. It's as listed: final version, colour concept, light values and thumbnails.

You're late!

A piece I worked on this week for Modern Dog Magazine! I've also updated the blog with a new layout, which I feel is easier to read than the older layouts! Hope you like it!

Dogs!

Some of my favorite tiny prairie dog doodles I did when developing the western piece!

Art Museums and the Holiday Season

Hey Guys! Had an excellent time at CTN! It was great to catch up with some great artists who I've been in touch with and getting to see all the amazing work that's happening right now in animation! It was fantastic!

I've been working on a few things lately. First off here's another great puzzle I worked on with ChickaDEE Magazine:

I've also been working on some promo stuff just in time for the holiday season. I loved the mythology behind the Norwegian elves and tried to incorporate a bit of that in my holiday promo.

Lady Sketch!

Playing around with a few different techniques I've used and discarded. Thinking about using them again.

Coffee Shop

Edit: Here's a little peak from my process or at least a colour rough. Right now I've been keeping different versions of my files because I like to take a look at my own process. If anyone knows how to upload an animation showing process to the blog without making a crappy GIF let me know!

Dad as Dog: Illustrations!

Here are some images from this week's Swerve Magazine! You can find it in today's Calgary Herald. I had great material from Bruce Mcculloch to work with! Also... I rarely ever post sketches because I'm so shy of my roughs! So here's a little look at my process...

Mr. Mittens - The failed dailies blog.

A while ago I was trying to do a daily updated Tumblr, which sort of fell by the way side (that should be change come October when I have more time). Here's a few drawings from that attempt!

Adirondacks Dental Office

Here are some early designs for a themed dental office out of New York. They've changed their layout plans so we're taking aspects of these sketches and refining them up to make a memorable office for the client.

The children's theater area, which unfortunately has been eliminated in the new scope.
 The reception desk!

A few concepts for their different waiting rooms  in the building!
And a couple of beavers just for fun.
